Pics from Legoland

I am a bit behind in my picture editing. Today we actually went to the Melbourne Zoo which was amazing. But I am so behind that I have just finished our pics from Legoland. We had a great time in Legoland, I am glad we made the stop to go there.

The boys liked the lego train.

C loved these cars that kids could drive themselves. There were no rails, and the cars went faster than Power Wheels. It was hysterical watching the kids drive down the little streets, breaking all the rules of the road. They ran red lights, passed, cut each other off, and purposely hit each other.

There was an entire area of lego reproductions of major US cities.
Lego Capitol building.

Just part of Lego World.

R loved this airplane ride.

He also loved meeting Bob the Builder and watching the 3D show.

Lego Darth Vadar was one of C's favorites.

We are here!

We made it. The kids did great on the flight. Thankfully they slept for a few hours and the entertainment systems in the seats were fantastic. C kept himself busy playing video games and watching movies. R needed a little more entertainment- but did spend some time watching movies. They even did well when we had an unexpected stop in Sydney to refuel- there was fog in Melbourne and they weren't going to let us land right away. Everything was great until we were standing in line for Customs in Melbourne and R completely melted down. They did hurry us through Customs though.

Our apartment here is beautiful. We have three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. We are on the 44th floor of a high-rise building and have floor to ceiling windows. The view is amazing. We can see the whole city and even out to the mountains beyond the city.

Today we did some exploring and went to Ikea to get some things we needed. C and Rob headed out to the park this afternoon. There is a ferris wheel that we can see from our apartment and C has been begging to ride it all day. This evening we plan on going to the beach to see the penguins. And tomorrow we are headed to the zoo.
Thanks for checking up on us!

Sunny California

Our flight to CA was great, the kids were fantastic. C watched the TV in his seat and R played with his toys and slept. They were the only kids on the flight, so it was a relief that they behaved so well. Hopefully our long flight is as easy.
Today we spent the day in Legoland. To sum it up, in C's words, "Legoland is awesome!" It really is a cute park, with lots of rides for little kids. We were there from open to close and did not get to all the small kid rides. I have tons of pictures from today but we forgot to bring the camera cable, so it will have to wait until we get to Australia.
We also discovered tonight that R can climb out of a pack and play. I knew it was coming soon, but the timing couldn't have been worse. We had quite a surprise after we put him to bed and minutes later he came strolling back out into the living room.
Tomorrow we will check out of here, then drive up to Los Angeles. We don't fly out until 11:30, so we are going to try to find something to do during the day.
I probably won't get to update again until we are in Australia!

Three Days!

We have three days to go. Today was C's last day of kindergarten. We got his report card and he did great- and has officially moved on to first grade. Phew.
There is still a lot of packing to do, but all the big stuff is done. I told our neighbors today that we were leaving. The wife was very excited for us and wanted to talk about it but all the husband said was, "Do you have someone to mow your lawn?" Men have their priorities. And to answer that, yes, we do have someone to mow.
Rob is coming home tomorrow- and will be home for one full day before heading back to Australia. Wish me luck, I will be travelling with a six year old, two year old, and a very jetlagged 35 year old. I don't know which one of them will be the most difficult.
In only one week we will be in Melbourne.

Eight Days to Go

Only eight days to go- we are getting excited. A lot of our winter things have already been packed and are being shipped on Monday. Hopefully our things get there before we do. We have a place to stay. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freshwater_Place
We will be able to find lots of activities for the kids in the area, including a botanic garden with a children's garden. There is an aquarium nearby and a train station within walking distance. At this point I just want to get there. There is still a lot to do between now and then though.

We have a date

It is official- we are really going to Australia. We are booked to leave on the 25th. We will spend a day in San Diego and go to Legoland, then on the 27th we board the plane to Australia. Sixteen hours later, hopefully with our sanity still in tact, we will be in Melbourne.
